Car rental questions

The essentials about booking, picking up the car, routes and rental terms in Georgia.

Booking and price

How do I choose a car for my trip?

Open the page of a specific car: it has photos, specifications and the price by rental length. For paved routes a crossover or a Comfort-class car is usually enough; not every route needs all-wheel drive.

How is the rental price calculated?

The site shows the price for 7 days and, where available, rates by rental length. The daily equivalent of the weekly price applies to a 7-day rental. The manager agrees the price for your chosen period and for delivery with you before the rental is confirmed.

What is the minimum rental period?

Rentals start from 3 days. The longer the rental, the lower the daily rate: the rate table is open on each car's page.

How do I pay?

You pay when the car is handed over. There is no online payment and no card entry on the site. The manager confirms the payment method before the handover.

Can I cancel or change a booking?

Cancellation or changes are free up to 48 hours before the agreed pickup time. No prepayment is required for this. For a later cancellation, contact us and give your booking number; any compensation is communicated and agreed in advance.

Driver, documents and terms

What are the driver requirements?

The main and any additional driver must be at least 23 years old and have held a category B licence for at least 2 years. Some cars have stricter requirements; we tell you before confirmation.

Do I need an international driving permit?

You need one if the details in your licence cannot be read in Georgian, Russian or the Latin alphabet, or if the document requires additional confirmation under Georgian law. Otherwise a valid national licence plus a passport or ID card is enough.

Can I add a second driver?

Yes. One additional driver is added at no extra charge after we check their documents and that they meet the requirements.

What does the insurance cover?

Standard insurance is included in the price of the published cars. The cover, excess and maximum liability are stated in the agreement and explained before the handover.

Pickup, airports and return

Where can I pick up the car?

We hand cars over in two cities: Tbilisi and Batumi. Tell the manager the exact meeting point in the city — the airport, your hotel or an address. Delivery to another city can be requested the same way; the manager confirms whether it is possible and what it costs.

Can I pick up the car at the airport?

Yes. Tell the manager the airport and your arrival time — for example, "Tbilisi Airport, 14:00". They will confirm the time and the exact meeting point before the handover.

What if my flight is delayed?

Message us on WhatsApp or Telegram. Your booking number and flight number help us agree a new handover time faster.

Where exactly do we meet at the airport?

The exact spot depends on the airport and the handover time. The manager will tell you when confirming the booking.

Can I return the car in another city?

Yes, if the route and the car allow it. Such a return is agreed in advance and priced individually.

Routes and driving in Georgia

Do I need an off-roader to travel around Georgia?

For most paved routes an ordinary crossover or a Comfort-class car is enough. All-wheel drive and higher ground clearance can help on some mountain routes, but it is best to agree the route in advance.

Can I drive outside Georgia or on difficult mountain routes?

Trips to another country and drives on difficult high-mountain or seasonally restricted roads are possible only after prior written agreement. This rule also applies to off-roaders.

What should I do in case of an accident or a breakdown?

Stop in a safe place and contact Geo Cars immediately. In case of an accident, or when the circumstances require it, call the Georgian emergency service on 112. Do not order repairs and do not leave the scene in breach of the law without agreeing it with us.

What should I keep in mind when driving in Georgia?

In the mountains, allow for the weather, visibility and seasonal restrictions. Take your time on serpentine roads, follow the signs and agree the route in advance if you plan high-mountain roads.

How does parking work in Tbilisi and Batumi?

Central districts often have paid municipal parking, and the rules and zones differ between cities. Check the road markings and signs; fines and parking charges incurred during the rental are paid by the driver.
